The Equator is Wampler's take on the EQ pedal, built around the sensible idea that most guitar players do not want to sit in front of ten sliders trying to work out where 3.5kHz actually lives. It gives you fixed Bass and Treble shelves at the outer bands and two semi-parametric mid controls in the middle, each pairing a frequency-select knob with a cut/boost, so you can pick the mid you want to move and then move it. Frequency sweep on both mid bands covers the range where most guitar tone-shaping actually happens, with sweet spots printed on the enclosure to give you a starting point. Add a Level control for overall output and the pedal doubles as a clean boost with a shaped voicing sitting behind it, which is why so many players end up leaving it on. Controls are Level, Bass, low-mid Frequency and Cut/Boost, high-mid Frequency and Cut/Boost, Treble, top-mounted jacks, standard 9V centre-negative supply. Useful in several positions on a board: after a drive to tighten or open up its voicing, at the end of the chain as an always-on shaping pedal, or set up with two footswitchable EQ profiles across an A/B loop for rhythm and lead. Works equally well with bass, an acoustic pickup or a line-level source running into a PA or interface.
