"Wandering North" is inspired by a recent trip to WA's southern coast and was featured in the 2023 "Spirit of the Landscape" Exhibition. I was immediately attracted to the contrasting rugged shorelines compared to my tropical home beaches on the East Coast. The play of light and its ability to rapidly change colour, the temperature and mood of a location always draws me into the scene. With this piece I have enjoyed exploring the play of light and shade and the challenge trying to capture the mesmerising atmosphere I experienced. I used loose and suggestive brushwork to capture that timeless yet fleeting moment to give each piece a playful energy - that tease of sunlight on the long grass drawing shadows on the sand - before it is all gone.
