RED WINE WANTED by Sapateiro Boutique Winery is a series of wines that I decided to make that don’t necessarily represent the region where I am in. The concept behind the labels is inspired by the old west WANTED posters, but instead of cowboys, this time we have a pirate crew stealing wines. Their treasures? Stealing wines. Each person on the crew will have his own wine and label. For now, I am releasing the first two wines. This wine in particular was a wine that I decided to make spontaneously on a Sunday. Usually, these grapes are harvested to be blended with our other reds, but in 2020, I decided to let them ripen a bit longer and harvest them separately. This is now the second edition of The Captain, from the year 2022. The result is this wine: a monovarietal of the Touriga Nacional grape variety, aged 16 months in a used French oak barrel, of which we only released around 250 bottles.
