A farmer in Silverton, Oregon, has cultiv ated a small forest filled with hundreds of rare conifers, from spiky fronds of cedars of Lebanon to golden tendrils of Lawson cypress. When he invited the artists to walk through his exceptional trees and take clippings, they swung their daughter up on their shoulders, where she reached into the upper reaches of the trees, while they hunted for treasures below. With her child’s eye, she found the favorite piece of the day: the bright green tips that signal new growth from mature branches. They form the core of this collection: the actual shape of resilience and new life. Show more
