In Warten (“Waiting”), the figure emerges from a dense field of hand-engraved lines created through etching on zinc. Built through the accumulation of thousands of incisions, the s urface appears both solid and unstable, as if the image were suspended within the texture of the mark itself.The title suggests a moment of pause and interior time. The lowered gaze and still posture convey introspection, while the tightly woven network of lines turns the background into an active field that surrounds and contains the figure.
