Waterfall by M. C. Escher. Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972), born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, was a multidisciplinary artist whose legacy in the graphic and mathematical fine arts is known all around the world. Better known as M.C. Escher, his first pieces (1920-1925), were mostly wood and linoleum cuts about people and animals, meant to be posters or illustrations. Later on, in life, his portraits, constructions, and landscapes became even more realistic.
