Running power is the amount of energy we are expending during a given period of time. It is usually measured in watts. Advantages of using running power: - Independent of external factors: Power is a true measure of our effort which doesn’t depend on external factors. - Displays real-time effort: Power change is instantaneous while heart rate is a lagging indicator. - Training with power zones: Training with power zones, we determine Functional Threshold Power (FTP) or Critical Power (CP), which is the power that we can hold for a considerable amount of time and then create the zones based on that. - Pacing: Power can be used as a pacing tool as many runners are now running with a target power instead of a target heart rate or pace. - Combine power and heart rate: Both power and heart rate can be used simultaneously and there are several metrics that can be helpful to analyze power and heart rate correlation. We carry & use Stryd Watts. Its one of the best in the world.
