Mobile phones use radiofrequency signals to connect to mobile networks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. WaveWall incorporates a metallic-fibre layer into the shielded panel of the case. When that panel is correctly positioned between the phone and your body, it is designed to reduce the amount of radiofrequency energy travelling through it in that direction. In an independent 2017 SAR comparison using an iPhone 6, WaveWall reports that the Flip reduced the measured SAR from 1.360 W/kg to 0.223 W/kg—an 83% reduction in that particular test set-up. Please note: this is directional shielding, not a complete Faraday enclosure. It does not eliminate every emission from the phone, and real-world results can vary according to the phone, signal strength, network, positioning and use. As with any frequently handled faux-leather case, gradual wear may appear around the corners, stitching and folding areas over time. Avoid overfilling the card pocket or repeatedly bending the front cover backwards, as this can place unnecessary strain on the material and seams. Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow the case to dry naturally. Do not soak, machine wash or expose it to strong cleaning products or direct heat.
