Benjamin hand-forged this striking bushcraft knife using Damascus carbon steel, creating its distinctive layered pattern and reliable performance for feathering, carving, food prep, and everyday trail use. The handle is crafted from Northern Rata wood, sourced from beneath the ash layer of Mount Taranaki—preserved relics from forests buried by the volcano's eruptions (notably the AD 1655 Burrell Lapilli blast and later ash events around AD 1755). These cataclysmic forces repeatedly entombed lowland woodlands, safeguarding ancient timber like this rata for centuries beneath protective layers. This truly unique piece is completed with a custom vegetable-tanned leather belt sheath, handmade by Marisa.
