While players all build one communal city, they are actively claiming property to maximize building bonuses to score the most points at the end of the game. Bonuses score based on the buildings nearby, not who owns the buildings. This expansion changes how the game starts by replacing the starting tile and instead, each player has two cards with a shoreline. Each turn a player plays a card and creates a boundary with the beach and ocean. No future cards can be played beyond that line meaning that the city is restricted by how the shoreline is created. In addition, some new bonuses are scored based on how buildings are constructed next to the beach. The expansion is part of the score pad for easy scoring when it is used with the main game.
