Compact and fully sealed, the SLGDT helps dissipate static charges from nearby lightning strikes to reduce damage to decoders, controllers, and other SmartWire components. SmartWire compatibility: Installs directly on SmartWire red and black conductors; requires no power from the 2‑wire system and is compatible only with SmartWire networks. Robust protection: Gas-discharge tube design protects approximately a 300‑foot radius and adds an extra measure of defense beyond built-in component safeguards. Durable construction: Sealed and impervious to moisture, salts, fertilizers and mild chemicals; shock resistant and rated for -20° to 60° C operation. Easy installation: Connect the red and black leads to the 2‑wire path and attach the green ground wire to a proper earth ground using the supplied SLCONN connector. Placement guidance: Install an SLGDT at the controller location, at the end of long runs, and approximately every 600 feet along extended 2‑wire paths for best protection. Manufacturer warranty: Standard limited warranty is two years; warranty extends to three years when installed with Weathermatic SLWIRE cable and SLCONN connectors.
