Keep Your Saddle Where It Belongs Without Restricting Shoulder Movement Saddles that slide back on steep climbs or during hard ranch work are more than annoying — they throw off your balance and put pressure in all the wrong places. The Weaver Leather Contoured Breast Collar solves this by anchoring your saddle while giving your horse full freedom through the shoulder. The ergonomic curved design follows the natural lines of your horse's chest, preventing the binding and rubbing you get with straight collars. Crafted from premium vegetable-tanned skirting leather and built with rust-resistant hardware, this breast collar is made for riders who need gear that holds up season after season. The tapered width — from 1-¾" at the center down to 1-¼" at the sides — reduces bulk where the legs move forward while maintaining a stable contact surface across the chest. Fully adjustable tug straps and center cinch strap let you dial in the perfect height above the point of the shoulder. Why Riders Choose the Weaver Contoured Breast Collar Ergonomic contoured shape — Curved design follows your horse's natural chest anatomy to prevent shoulder restriction and distribute pressure evenly across the muscle. Tapered width reduces bulk — Starts at 1-¾" wide at center for stability, tapers to 1-¼" at the sides so it doesn't interfere with leg movement during collection or extension. Premium heavyweight leather construction — Vegetable-tanned oiled skirting or harness leather that breaks in beautifully and stands up to years of trail miles and arena work. Rust-resistant stainless steel hardware — Nickel-plated or stainless fittings stay functional and look sharp even after exposure to sweat, rain, and dust. Highly adjustable for custom fit — Adjustable tug straps and center cinch strap let you fine-tune height and position for any build, from compact ranch horses to taller trail mounts. Prevents saddle roll on steep terrain — Holds your saddle in place during uphill climbs, sudden stops, or fast turns without restricting the horse's reach. Best For Trail and ranch riders looking for maximum saddle stability on steep or technical terrain without sacrificing shoulder freedom. Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I know if this breast collar fits my horse correctly? For a safe, comfortable fit, you should be able to fit a closed fist between the center of the Weaver Contoured Breast Collar and your horse's chest. This spacing allows for full expansion during heavy breathing and deep movement. Adjust the tug straps so the collar sits just above the point of the shoulder — too low and it will rub during work. Q: What size horse does this breast collar fit? The Weaver Contoured Breast Collar is designed in Standard Horse Size, which typically fits most stock horses with chest measurements between 34" and 36". Thanks to the adjustable tug straps and center cinch strap, you can fine-tune the fit for a wide range of builds — from compact Quarter Horses to taller Paints and Thoroughbred crosses. Q: Will this collar hold my saddle in place on steep mountain trails? Absolutely. The contoured design is engineered specifically to prevent saddle roll and rearward slide during uphill climbs and downhill descents. Many backcountry riders rely on this collar for technical trail work where saddle position is critical for balance and rider safety. Q: Can I use this breast collar for arena work or just trail riding? You can use the Weaver Contoured Breast Collar for any discipline where you need saddle stability — arena work, cutting, reining, or trail. The ergonomic design doesn't restrict shoulder movement, so it won't interfere with collection or lead changes. Just make sure it's adjusted correctly so it sits above the point of the shoulder during all gaits.
