Waterproof Tile Underlayment for Bathroom Floors The wedi® Flooring Panel Kit provides a complete 40 sq. ft. waterproof underlayment system for tiled bathroom floors. The kit combines 1/4" wedi Building Panels with the sealant and fastening components needed to install and waterproof the panel assembly, creating a tile-ready substrate for wet-area flooring applications. 1/4" Building Panels for Floor Installations Five 24" × 48" × 1/4" wedi Building Panels provide the 40 sq. ft. of underlayment included in the kit. Their low-profile 1/4" thickness makes them suitable for floor applications where a waterproof tile substrate is needed without unnecessarily increasing the finished floor height. Waterproof and Insulating XPS Foam Core Each Building Panel is constructed with a closed-cell extruded polystyrene foam core that is waterproof, mold-proof, and insulating. Because waterproofing is built into the panel core, the panels provide both a stable tile backing surface and integrated waterproofing for bathroom floor installations. Cement-Coated Surface for Thin-Set Mortar Bonding Both sides of each panel are reinforced with fiberglass mesh embedded in a cement resin coating. This reinforced surface provides tile backing strength, while its textured pattern gives thin-set mortar a surface to mechanically bond to during tile installation. Compatible with Electric Floor Warming Systems The Flooring Panel Kit is especially suited for bathroom floors incorporating electric floor warming systems. The insulating XPS foam core helps separate the tiled assembly from the substrate while providing a waterproof base for the floor warming and tile installation. Joint Sealant for Waterproof Seams and Fastener Points One wedi Joint Sealant cartridge is included for waterproofing and reinforcing panel joints, seams, connections, and fastener points. The single-component Silyl Modified Polymer (SMP) sealant provides strong initial adhesion and remains permanently flexible after curing. Installation Hardware Included The kit also includes 40 tabless washers and wood screws for fastening the Building Panels. With the panels, joint sealant, washers, and screws packaged together, the kit provides the primary wedi components required for a 40 sq. ft. waterproof bathroom floor underlayment installation.
