The polyester straps are 4,500 lb and 12,000 lb rated, non-stretch, water-resistant, and far more durable than nylon or cotton. Safe for indoor gyms and outdoor grass: no floor damage, no divots, and easy to clean. A stainless-steel swivel and heat-cured painted handle complete the system. Indoors, it lands with a controlled “thunk” instead of a bang. The slam ball absorbs impact, reducing bounce, roll, and noise while protecting gym floors and mats. The handle is made from 3/8" 1144 Stressproof steel (100,000+ psi yield strength), with a fully welded solid steel triangle for maximum durability. Nylon shoulder washers provide smooth rotation, with spares included. Shoulder bolts secure with a 5/16" wrench for reliability (use purple Loctite, never red). D-rings distribute strap wear evenly, unlike traditional O-rings that fail at the edges. An ideal practice implement: affordable, durable, quieter, and safer than traditional weights. Slam balls use sand instead of lead and are easily replaced if worn. Tradeoffs: approximately 1.8 lb heavier and slightly longer than regulation, but the added weight and length largely offset each other, resulting in a feel close to a competition weight.
