Weld-On #3 General Description Weld-On 3 is a water-thin, non-flammable cement formulated to quickly develop high strength, clear bonds to many thermoplastic substrates, particularly acrylic. The bond is achieved by first softening the surfaces to be joined and then fusing them together with dissipation of the solvent. The initial bond forms within a few minutes and quickly increases in strength. Substantial strength will be obtained within only a few hours. Under certain conditions, especially with high humidity, a white mark on the plastic (commonly called blushing) may sometimes be encountered. Where a more blush resistant cement and longer open time is required, Weld-On 4 is recommended. Adhesive Properties and Characteristics Color: Clear Viscosity: Water Thin Working Time: 1 Minute Fixture Time: 2 Minute Ultimate Bond Strength: 24 Hours Weld-On #4 General Description Weld-On 4 is a water-thin, somewhat flammable cement formulated to quickly develop very clear and high strength bonds for many thermoplastic substrates. The bond is achieved by first softening the surfaces to be joined and then fusing them together with the dissipation of the solvent. The initial bond forms within a matter of minutes and is followed by a significant and continual increase in bond strength over the next several hours. WELD-ON 4 may be preferred by some plastic fabricators because it is less likely to leave white marks (commonly called blushing). For similar applications but faster setting cement, WELD-ON® 3™* is recommended. Adhesive Properties and Characteristics Color: Clear Viscosity: Water Thin Working Time: 1-2 Minute Fixture Time: 3 Minute Ultimate Bond Strength: 72 Hours Weld-On #16 General Description Weld-On 16 is a very high strength, clear, medium bodied, fast curing, solvent-type acrylic cement. Applied to cast, molded or extruded acrylics, it will affect initial bonds very quickly so some parts may be handled within a few minutes. Bond strength continues to develop very rapidly reaching a substantial level and forming strong joints within hours. This product may be thinned with Weld-On 3 by approximately 10%. Initial bond forms very quickly so some parts may be handled within a few minutes of application. Joints are water and weather resistant and will generally have similar physical and chemical properties to acrylic plastic. Adhesive Properties and Characteristics Color: Clear Viscosity: 800 ± 100 cps Working Time: 5 – 6 Minutes Fixture Time: 10 Minutes Ultimate Bond Strength: 24 Hours Weld-On #40 General Description Weld-On 40 is a two-component, clear, medium syrupy, low VOC, reactive acrylic adhesive. It polymerizes at room temperature, forming high strength joints within a few hours. The cemented joint retains high clarity, good strength and resistance to the effects of weathering and aging. In cases where a lower viscosity is desired, Weld-On 3061 may be used as a reactive diluent. When adjusting viscosity, similar curing characteristics will be maintained when no more than 10% of Weld-On 3061 is added to Weld-On 40 Component “A.” This product meets Military Spec A-8576C Type III.
