Description: Wellspring K-Lyte Potassium Supplement is a therapeutic use supplement that comes in orange flavour effervescent tablets for easy administration and use. Each tablet contains 25 mEq of elemental potassium. Recommended Use or Purpose: Oral potassium supplement for the therapy or prophylaxis of potassium deficiency. Especially useful for routine use with thiazide diuretics or corticosteroid hormones to replace excessive potassium losses. Dosage (for adult use): One (1) tablet dissolved in 3 to 4 ounces (85-115 mL) of cold water 2 to 4 times daily OR as directed by physician. Prevention of hypokalemia: Supplementally, approximately 20 to 40 mmol (mEq/day). Treatment of potassium depletion: 40 to a maximum of 100 mmol (mEq) daily. K-Lyte should be taken with meals and sipped slowly over a 5 to 10 minute period. Medicinal Ingredients: Each effervescent tablet, when dissolved in water, supplies 25 mEq of elemental potassium (975 mg) as potassium citrate. Non-medicinal Ingredients: Dextrose Saccharin Sodium FD&C Yellow #6 Blood orange flavour Mineral oil Talc Docusate sodium Risk Information: Consult your physician prior to use if you have impaired kidney function. The use of potassium supplements must be monitored closely in these patients. Consult your physician before taking potassium supplements and potassium sparing diuretics (e.g. spironolactone or triamterene) together as this may cause high than normal potassium levels in the blood.
