Claudia FährenkemperPhotomicrographsClaudia Fährenkemper was born in Castrop-Rauxel in 1959. She lives and works in Lünen and Bonn.1979–1986: studied art and geography at the Universität Düsseldorf. 1987–1989: studied photography at the Fachhochschule Köln under Arno Jansen. 1989–1995: further studies in photography at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Bernd Becher and Nan Hoover; master student of Nan Hoover. 1993–1996: adjunct instructor of photography at the Universität-GH Siegen.Claudia Fährenkemper’s photographs present images from the micro-world, objects that cannot be seen by the human eye without the aid of a microscope. Beetles’ heads, frog larvae, plant seeds and crystals – forms emerging from a deep-black background are transformed before our eyes into landscapes, abstract structures, and strange organic configurations.
