Joint Effort 1, 2 and 3 is a new photo edition Jose Dávila has conceived for Edition Hatje Cantz, accompanying the new beautiful monograph on his sculptural work. Materials have a starring role in Dávila’s work and are presented here with a special focus: Each of the 3 photographs show a detailed view of the materials` fragmentary condition and their contrasting traits. The ratchet and the straps, present throughout his work in most recent years, are what remains after the translation of sketches into three-dimensional works. The remnant of that sketch on paper is transformed into a colorful feature that literally holds everything in place. Available as a single or a set of 3 archival pigment prints.
