We are very pleased to present Leonhard Hurzlmeier‘s Little Blue-Eyed Cyclops. The multi-talented artist reproduced the original version of Mother of the Blue-Eyed Cyclops, which can be found in the recently released monograph Neue Frauen (New Women). However, the reproductions are not prints, but handmade variations in oil on bamboo paper. The female cyclops is one of Hurzlmeier’s earliest feminine motifs. The artist was interested in creating a female counterpart to the mythological male Cyclops, not only with a nod to tongue-in-cheek gender equality, but also with an eye to abstract minimalism. The oils come with the monograph, making this a very special work that we are now able to offer as a new Edition Gerd Hatje.
