Cloth is a lithograph printed directly onto individually hand-painted heavy linen canvas. A cut-out in one-to-one scale, Cloth hangs as though on a hook, mimicking the object it de picts. The strong red color signals presence whilst drawing attention to the high formal abstraction of its lines, which disappear into illusionary folds, folding artificially into the real world around it. A seemingly ordinary subject, well-used and unfussy; an object like this would normally vanish into the invisibility of the everyday.
