The original modern dubbel, brewed by the Trappist monks of Westmalle Abbey in Belgium and one of the defining beers of the entire style. It pours a deep reddish-brown to mahogany colour, with a thick, creamy tan head that sticks to the glass as you drink. On the nose it’s immediately rich and layered: caramelised sugar, toasted malt, raisins, figs and dark cherry, with a gentle yeast-driven spice underneath. Show more
