The ELYSIAN 2R is a reference three-way standmount loudspeaker designed for listeners seeking the scale, authority, and resolution of a larger high-end speaker while retaining the precision and focus of a standmount design. Featuring an 8.5-inch coated glass fibre matrix bass driver, a dedicated 6-inch coated glass fibre matrix midrange driver, and a further-developed 27 x 90mm AMT treble unit, the ELYSIAN 2R delivers a full-range, naturally integrated performance with outstanding vocal clarity, wide bandwidth, and powerful bass extension. The Story The ELYSIAN 2R occupies a distinctive position within the range. While it is a standmount loudspeaker, it is not a small-scale design. Its three-way driver configuration allows bass, midrange, and treble frequencies to be reproduced by dedicated drive units, each operating within its optimum range. This results in the openness, control, and dynamic ease typically associated with larger loudspeakers while preserving the imaging precision and placement flexibility of a standmount model. Generation R refinements further enhance this concept. The crossover network has been re-engineered to improve phase integration and shorten signal paths, while the AMT treble unit provides greater speed and resolution. The dedicated midrange driver is designed to deliver natural expression, and the large 8.5-inch bass driver provides genuine low-frequency authority. For listeners seeking a high-end Wharfedale standmount loudspeaker that combines scale, substance, and finesse, the ELYSIAN 2R represents the reference choice. True Three-Way Standmount Design The ELYSIAN 2R features dedicated bass, midrange, and AMT treble drivers, allowing each section of the frequency spectrum to be reproduced with precision, clarity, and ease. Large-Scale Bass from a Standmount The 8.5-inch coated glass fibre matrix bass driver delivers exceptional depth, weight, and articulation, exceeding the performance expectations typically associated with compact loudspeakers. Dedicated Midrange Clarity A dedicated 6-inch coated glass fibre matrix midrange driver provides vocals and instruments with natural body, texture, and focus. Both the bass and midrange drivers utilise coated glass fibre matrix cones, selected for their lightweight construction, durability, and ability to effectively damp unwanted vibrations. This contributes to articulate bass performance, a natural midrange character, and minimal colouration. Refined High-Frequency Performance The 27 x 90mm AMT treble unit delivers open and extended high frequencies with exceptional speed, detail, and low distortion. The ELYSIAN R AMT has been engineered for speed, openness, and precision. Its pleated diaphragm moves air with remarkable efficiency, enabling effortless detail retrieval and natural high-frequency extension. Generation R Crossover Refinement The ELYSIAN R crossover incorporates premium components, including high-silicon-iron-cored coils for deep bass performance, air-core coils for the midrange and treble sections, Super Audiophile polypropylene capacitors, and low-inductance resistors. Innovative direct-path PCB layouts are engineered to maintain signal integrity and maximise clarity. Engineered for Premium Systems With a sensitivity rating of 89dB and a recommended amplifier power range of 25–250W, the ELYSIAN 2R is designed for serious two-channel audio systems where space efficiency, precision, and musical authority are equally important. SLPP Bass Management Wharfedale’s Slot-Loaded Profiled Port (SLPP) system enhances bass extension and control while minimising turbulence and reducing sensitivity to room placement. The result is bass performance that remains powerful, agile, and consistent across a wide range of listening environments. New Luxury Finishes The ELYSIAN 2R is available in Walnut High Gloss, Matte Black, and Lunar Grey finishes. Each finish is complemented by refined matte-black trim details, with matching stand options available. Stand and Be Counted Dedicated ELYSIAN 2R stands are available and feature high-carbon steel tube construction, high-carbon steel top plates, and hardened high-carbon steel base spikes, providing a stable and visually integrated foundation for the loudspeaker.
