DESCRIPTION Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper | 2020 Revisiting and reimagining earlier works from her print archive, Southgate-Smith invites us to examine the evolut ion from the works in this series, SPACE IN PERFORMANCE — created using a traditional printmaking process — to her digital render print work that is also available through Tappan. Her digital works that evoke otherworldly postmodern architectural interior renderings are a clear progression from the works in this series that employ sculptural geometric shapes and imaginative perspective. Southgate-Smith has taken these archival print works and revised the color palette to reference the monochromatic digital render prints, drawing a connection between the way in which her practice continually evolves while harkening back to earlier investigations into our perceptions of space and place.
