Where the Harbour Sleeps from the series Map of Quiet Oil on canvas · 202631.5 × 47.2 inches (80 × 120 cm) Inspired by an evening walk near Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse on Québec's Gaspé Peninsula, this original oil painting reflects on the quiet moments that linger long after we leave. It was our first journey after our son was born. He was five months old. As he slept peacefully in his carrier, we stood on the cliffs, watching the evening light fade across the Gulf of St. Lawrence. For a little while, everything slowed down. The lighthouse stood quietly against the horizon steady, simple, and reassuring. I remember feeling something I still can't fully explain. It wasn't only joy, or fear, or gratitude. It was something larger than all of them. Rather than painting the landscape exactly as it appeared, I wanted to preserve that feeling the quiet reminder that we don't always need to see the whole path before taking the next step. Where the Harbour Sleeps is part of my Map of Quiet collection, inspired by the coastlines of Québec and the emotions they quietly hold.
