ceramic 11” x 6” x 6” **All Sales from this Exhibition are Being Donated to the Gallery** Born in Brooklyn (the epicenter of the known universe), Debora Meltz received her BFA from The Cooper Union and a Master’s degree in Printmaking from William Paterson University. After a brief stint in advertising, she became a high-school art teacher in the New York City public school system—an experience she survived with distinction. Working across nearly every medium imaginable, Debora has explored paint, printmaking, photography, metal, glass, encaustic, and more. A member of Peters Valley for over forty years, she was introduced to many of these techniques through the School and currently serves on its Board of Directors. About twenty-five years ago, she began working in clay. Her sculptural work is often described as darkly humorous and creepily beautiful. Deeply influenced by her extensive travels and long-standing work with Domestic Abuse Services, Inc. (DASI), Debora now feels fully liberated to create whatever she wants—and finds that freedom absolutely fabulous.
