I've made this cup since 2018. Six ounces, built plain on purpose. No handle or foot, and one molecule on the front. The inside is glazed and the outside is left raw. When you drink, your lips meet bare clay, and what's in the cup was born of the ground too, whether it be barley, wheat, corn, coffee beans, tea leaves, or cacao. Something grown from the earth on the inside, the earth itself on the outside, you in between. I've always liked the poetry of that. Each one is handbuilt from slabs, so no two come out quite the same. Choose your molecule: Whisky Lactone — The one that started all of this, back in 2018. What the oak barrel hands off to the whisky. Caffeine — The reason you're vertical. Best known from coffee, and the molecule most likely to be mistaken for a personality. Serotonin — The steady one. A good cup for a day that's already going right, or one you're trying to convince. Dopamine — Not the reward — the wanting of it. Fitting, for a cup you keep coming back to. Microwave and dishwasher safe, although handwashing is recommended to extend the life of your handmade ceramics.
