The White Cloud Mountain minnow is a hardy species of freshwater fish and coldwater fish often kept in aquaria. The species is a member of the carp family of the order Cypriniformes, native to China. Ideal Tank and Pond Mates These minnows are peaceful and thrive in groups of six or more, which encourages their natural schooling behaviour. They coexist well with non-aggressive tank mates like small tetras, Corydoras, or shrimp. In ponds, they can be paired with goldfish or other cold-water species. Their active feeding on mosquito larvae makes them an excellent choice for maintaining healthy, mosquito-free ponds. Feeding and Nutrition White Clouds are omnivores with a diverse diet. In tanks or ponds, they actively hunt mosquito larvae, providing natural pest control. Supplement their diet with high-quality flakes or micro-pellets, along with live or frozen foods like daphnia or brine shrimp. Regular feeding enhances their vibrant colours and supports their active lifestyle. Breeding White Cloud Minnows Breeding White Cloud Minnows is easy in both aquariums and ponds. Use cooler water with plenty of fine-leaved plants for egg-laying. Females scatter eggs, which males fertilize. Once spawning is complete, remove adults to protect the eggs. Fry hatch within 24–48 hours and can be fed infusoria or finely powdered fry food until they are large enough for crushed flakes.
