Founded by Chad Connolly, the winery takes a hands-on, minimal intervention approach to deliver vibrant wines full of energy and charater. The 2022 White Gate Syrah is a perfect expression of this elegant philosophy. Sourced from small, organically farmed plots on dense dark clay soils, the fruit was picked early to preserve its bright natural acidity. Connolly fermented the grapes using 70% whole bunches and a semi-carbonic method to enhance fruit vibrancy, before gently pressing the wine into seasoned oak. The result is a modern, fresh red wine that balances a deep colour with a surprisingly light, plush mouthfeel. It is highly expressive, offering distinct notes of dark cherry, blueberry, cocoa, and savoury black pepper, all held together by a lively mineral zip and fine, integrated tannins.
