Intense cold, blizzards and gales in the wildest parts of Scotlands are all part of everyday life for our “White Lady”. Ptarmigan are probably the toughest birds in Britain. They are masters of camouflage, changing their colour to suit the seasons. Completely white in winter, except for a short black tail they change in summer to a brown and yellow plumage to blend in with the lichen covered rocks. White Lady is not just a tough mountain bird it is also the name of one of the most famous ski runs on Cairngorm Mountain.
