Ivory Crescent , or Ivory Round Pleated Zafu The seat is filled with natural buckwheat hulls, and our Zabuton is filled with organic Kapok. Both are GOTS certified and ethically manufactured. About Kapok (Zabuton's filling) While plenty of other companies use synthetic materials such as memory foam, nylon, and polyester, we opt for the natural route. Kapok is one of the best organic options. It is non-toxic, healthy and safe for you and your family. Kapok is a renewable and biodegradable resource, which means it does not contribute to environmental pollution or waste Please note: The Kapok fibre has a faint natural smell that may be noticeable when first opening the box. It is a natural smell of Kapok fibre being in a box for transit. This is a small quirk for getting a true natural product. It does not last after Kapok is aired out. Air out under the sun in a dry room or dry environment for a couple of days or weeks to dissipate. For faster airing, take out the outer cover, or open the zipper to have the sun reach the Kapok. Care Put the Zabuton under the sun every once in a while to refresh the cushion's Kapok stuffing. Avoid exposing Kapok to humidity or water. If exposed, dry in the sun for as long as it needs, and it will get back to normal. Compare: Crescent Vs. Round Zafu Both seat choices have pleats (fabric folds) to expand seating area for comfort and can also be adjusted in height by removing the buckwheat hulls as desired. Crescent cushion: is flatter in height in comparison and is shaped as a half-moon to support the shape of the hips which allows weight distribution in the hip area and supports the knees to be closer to the ground. Round cushion: is a higher seat than the crescent cushion. The higher seat allows more room for the knees to soften down and for a straight spine to be supported through tilting the pelvis forward.
