We would always recommend only feeding wild birds peanuts that you know to be fresh, high-quality, and bought from a reputable supplier. This is because over time peanuts can become high in a naturally occurring substance called aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a poison which commonly affects peanut crops, and it is particularly harmful if ingested by wild birds.
