A large, sometimes thorny tree with dark green leaves, a domed crown and pretty white flowers at springtime. Edible pears are produced in early autumn and ripen ready for picking i n the later autumnal months. Grow either as a specimen tree or in a woodland or hedgerow setting. Growing Conditions: Grows best in fertile, well-drained soil and position in full sun. Value To Wildlife: The fruit is enjoyed by birds, including as thrushes and blackbirds, and the flowers attract bees and other pollinators.
