Often, Toprak starts with something in mind and lets her hands work in tandem with her gaze. By employing both wheel and hand building (coiling) techniques, Toprak ensures each pie ce is unique, and original. Sometimes, among the petals you may find hand and fingerprints. The pieces are fired in one of only three studios using gas-fired kilns in New York. The porcelain offers a luminescent quality, which allows the artist to adorn the pieces with paper-thin petals and blooms.
