Nicely priced. One copy only. William Orbit is an electronic music producer whose style comprises a blend of ambient electronic music, world fusion, pop, and dance music. He is mostly known for his pioneering studio work in the late 1980’s, as well as ‘Pieces in a Modern Style,’ a modern classical crossover album which managed to crack the top five of the Billboard classical music charts when it was released in the year 2000. The Painter, released in 2022 on Guerrilla Studios records (and featuring a gorgeous painting by Orbit himself), is his first album of music since 2012. It is an eminently listenable blend of downtempo and ambient pop, with a few world fusion flourishes thrown in for good measure. The overall effect is quite hypnotic, as guest vocalists (including longtime collaborator Beth Orton) pop in occasionally over the course of this hour-plus journey. The Painter is a generous outpouring of bold, cinematic downtempo electronic music that works almost equally well as both background music and active listening.
