Bright, fresh and full of movement, the Windermere Tweed is inspired by the experience of boating on the lake on a clear day, where sunlight dances across ripples and swans drift along the shore. The warm orange thread that runs through the design nods to the unmistakable beaks of those lakeside swans, adding a vivid touch of life and character. The pattern, originally designed by the Lancs & Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers for a throw, captures the shifting light and motion of the water. It has been carefully simplified for cloth and is also available in a classic herringbone weave. This tweed is made from a blend of local fleeces: Swaledale and rare breed Derbyshire Gritstone from the Hayton family at Brow Top Farm, and lustrous Bluefaced Leicester wool from Rob and Lisa Berry at Long Garth. Designed by Curlew Fabric Design and woven in the North West of England, this cloth is made from 100% British wool - renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable.
