The star of this original painting is an ancient Rowan tree in Cumbria, England, known as 'the Windswept Woman' or less poetically, 'the Drunkard Rowan.' Over many years strong win ds have moulded it's bole into a nearly prostrate posture, but still it persists. The vibrant interplay between the intricate branches and the expressive background create a dynamic sense of motion.
