Two Sarreguemines dinner plates in the Obernai pattern, designed by Henriette Loux — the Alsatian artist whose folk illustrations defined the look of the region's most celebrated f aience. Each plate depicts a different winter village scene, snow-covered half-timbered buildings and bare trees rendered in soft blues and greys, framed by Loux's characteristic border of red poppies, forget-me-nots and gold ribbon on a scalloped white ground. The two scenes are distinct, which makes the pair more interesting than matched examples. Both signed H. Loux in the well. Sold as a pair.
