Winter White (2019) is an original oil painting on canvas created at the close of a major chapter in my life; the last painting I completed before leaving my downtown studio at the start of COVID. A solitary figure in white stands within my grid language, held in a field of soft, shifting color and layered brushwork. Up close, the surface reveals subtle tonal changes and hand-painted marks that are difficult to capture in photos, giving the painting a luminous, quiet complexity in person.
