About This Print Winter's Path was captured at Mount Chephren in the Canadian Rockies at -35°C, cold enough to drain batteries mid-shoot, cold enough to make every step across the frozen lake a conscious decision. The ice groaned quietly underfoot the whole way. By the time James reached his composition the gear was already failing. The light that arrived with sunset that evening was worth every frozen finger, every battery swap, every moment of doubt about whether this was a reasonable thing to do. The best images almost always come from the moments you almost didn't go out. This is one of those images.
