Wireline is a suspension lamp designed by Amsterdam-based studio Formafantasma for Flos, recognized with Interior Design's 2021 Best of Year Award. Its character emerges from the conversation between two unlikely materials: a transparent tubular glass diffuser that disperses light with quiet, even clarity, and a rubber cable offered in pink or forest green. Formafantasma, founded by Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, treats every project as a form of critical inquiry. Their practice consistently examines the relationships between craft, ecology, and cultural identity. In Wireline, the rubber cable is not an afterthought. It is a deliberate engagement with industrial material and its expressive potential, giving the piece a graphic silhouette that reads as both sculptural and precise.
