Vilhelm Wohlert — co-architect of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art — designed this pendant for Louis Poulsen in 1959, in the same calm spirit as that landmark building. Where his contemporaries pursued elaborate shade systems, Wohlert reduced the pendant to its essence: a softly rounded, mouth-blown opal glass globe that hangs like a full moon, evenly luminous in every direction, with a bottom opening for direct downward light and easy bulb changes. That simplicity makes the Wohlert Pendant remarkably easy to live with: hang one low over a small dining table or in place of a bedside lamp, or run two or three along a hallway or counter for gentle rhythm.
