His saxophone, flying freely like a bird, liberates the liste ner and leads them into a new world. After his time with the Yosuke Yamashita Trio, when he poured his entire being into every single note, and following the early 1970s period in which he powerfully blew melodies shaped by flashes of inspiration and impulse, Seiichi Nakamura undergoes a further transformation on this work. As Nakamura himself has said, “Sharing the space together, and flying freely like birds—that’s my ideal.” Layers of sound and carefully placed silences richly expand the space, through which Nakamura’s saxophone moves boldly and expansively. Inspired by the "Wolf Guy" series by writer Kazumasa Hirai, the open and exhilarating "Wolf’s Theme"; "Harappa," with its relaxed groove and nostalgia-filled melody; the standards "Body & Soul" and "I Can’t Get Started," rendered with care and luster; and the vibrant, liberating "Viva Giappone"—all beautifully embody Nakamura’s ideal.
