Animal Facts: Family Vombatidae. Found in Australia and Tasmania. Lives in burrows that it digs itself. Feeds mainly on grass, roots, barks and fungi. Measures 95-115cm in length. After 20-22 days gestation, it usually gives birth to one young which stays in pouch for six months. The fur of the wombat in Tasmania is so bristly that it was often used to make doormats. Show more
