This piece is about embracing imperfection. Learning that it's perfectly fine to do something imperfectly. To best represent this, I used lilacs, the epitome of imperfect flowers. Their imperfection stems from their natural, highly irregular growth and fleeting lifespan. Rather than uniform blooms, lilacs feature clusters of uniquely formed, slightly asymmetrical flowers with varying pigments that fade and change throughout the season. Because no two blossoms or branches are the same, painters and florists often cite them as an exercise in letting go of rigid control. Their asymmetrical, natural shape is celebrated for being crooked, fluid, and wonderfully alive.
