Beijing, circa 1940 Once used by employees of a railway company, these wooden abacuses include a metal plaque giving details of the company. The left rows of beads were used to rep resent multiples of ten, with the right hand rows denoting decimals. Use today as an unusual desk ornament or as a gift for a mathematical academic.
