Spokeshaves are used to shape and smooth chair legs, wheel spokes and rods of all sorts. The design and function of the WoodRiver® Adjustable Spokeshave is based on the Stanley No. 84 Razor Spokeshave. The WoodRiver blade is thicker than the original but depth of cut adjustment utilizing the front shoe is virtually identical and of course, it is much heavier being made of ductile iron. We actually found the added weight at a tad over 1 lb. aids control of the shave when using one hand.
