Description Since the 11th century - the origin is believed to have existed in Byzantium - these chausses began to spread in the ruling classes but gradually became more and more p opular with the commoners as well. The woolen leggings were worn tight traditionally, an adjusted cut never limiting the mobility with these ancient designs, opened from the upper thighs up.
