Every spin leaves an excess amount of material that would usually end up as ‘waste’. West Yorkshire Spinners loves wool, and doesn’t like waste! So, this surplus has been given the revival it deserves. The process begins by collecting all this valuable and perfectly good fibre, gathered after each clean down of the spinning frames. Next, it is sent to a local production partner to be carded, combed, and converted back into tops before arriving back at the mill for spinning. Once spun, the yarn is dyed locally, and then returned for finishing, balling, and packing. Sustainability lies at the heart of West Yorkshire Spinners, and every step takes place within a 10-mile radius—something the company is extremely proud of.
