The Driftless Area is a land of deep ravines, limestone bluffs, and labyrinthine caves hiding among the cornfields of the Upper Midwest. Hundreds of spring-fed streams with evocati ve names like Castle Rock Creek, Cold Spring Brook and Coon Valley Creek tumble through the valleys towards the Mississippi—and those are just the “Cs”. Aquatic insects are abundant in the cold, calcium-rich water, as are the trout that feed on them.
