Girls living in slums and those from a very poor rural background are often discouraged from attending school and miss out on vital educational qualifications. Tailoring is one cou rse which is taught at Peniel Community College for girls. After the one year course, they would like to present sewing machines to each graduating student. With this gift, the student will then be able to earn a living. A sewing machine would really help supplement the income for a whole family, and helps in empowering women.
